Draft client coverage reports with AI, for marketing agencies
You spend hours copying links, publication names, and notes into client recap decks at the end of the month. AI can group those clippings and write the first draft of the report summary for you.
What to gather first
- Your raw list of client links and notes
- A past coverage report your client liked
- Your client's campaign goals or key topics
Which app
For this one, a plain AI chat window is enough. Open the chat, paste what you gathered, and type the message below.
How to do it
- Paste your past report sample. Open an AI chat window. Drop in an approved summary from last month so AI sees the headings and tone your client expects. Ask AI to hold the format and wait.
- Add the raw media clippings. Paste your list of articles, broadcast mentions, and publication names. Include any reach notes or quotes you already logged. Tell AI to sort them by topic or outlet tier.
- Ask for the recap draft. Tell AI to group the clips into sections and draft a short narrative for each. AI organizes the mentions and writes opening paragraphs for the update. You get a clean text draft back.
- Review and move to your deck. Read the draft against your original links. Fix any missed context or misattributed quotes yourself. Copy the polished text into your client's slide deck or email template.
What to type first
Here is an approved coverage recap from last month to show the tone, followed by raw media clips from this month. Draft an end-of-month coverage summary grouped by theme. Use the same section headings as the sample. Do not invent any clips or add metrics not in my notes. Do not send anything to clients.
Change the words to match your business. AI follows what you say, so say what done looks like.
Before you trust it
- Check that every publication name matches the actual link in your raw notes.
- Make sure AI did not make up readership or reach details that were missing from your file.
- Read the summary sentences to confirm the client's core message is described the way you pitched it.
Try handing AI your spokesperson quotes to draft executive-ready pull quotes for future wrap reports.
