Write insurance narratives with AI, for dentists

Writing insurance narratives eats into patient care and piles up at the end of clinic days. Handing your raw procedure notes to AI gives you a clean first draft in plain clinical terms before you submit.

What to gather first

Which app

For this one, a plain AI chat window is enough. Open the chat, paste what you gathered, and type the message below.

How to do it

  1. Strip out patient identities. Copy the clinical notes from today's chart into a blank document. Remove the patient's name, birth date, and policy details. Keep the clinical findings, tooth numbers, and previous treatment history.
  2. Paste notes into AI. Open your AI chat window next to your practice software. Paste in your sanitized notes alongside two examples of claims that paid without dispute. Ask AI to draft the narrative matching that tone.
  3. Review the clinical facts. Read the draft against your original clinical entry. Check that the tooth numbers, diagnosis, and medical necessity match what you saw in the mouth. Change any phrasing that drifts from your usual voice.
  4. Paste into your claim. Copy the corrected draft into your practice management software. Attach the needed radiographs and submit the claim as usual. File the draft away.

What to type first

Here are my de-identified clinical notes from today's procedure and two approved narratives from my office. Draft an insurance narrative explaining the clinical necessity for this treatment. Match the tone of my examples. Keep it factual and brief. Do not invent symptoms, and do not send anything.

Change the words to match your business. AI follows what you say, so say what done looks like.

Before you trust it

Once narratives flow smoothly, use AI to draft pre-authorization letters for complex cases.
